Debriefing after a schooling session

Sarah Nicholson – Head Girl

Sarah and her husband Alec have been in racing for most of their working lives.  Notable trainers Sarah has worked for include David Elsworth, Guy Harwood and Michael Bell.

Becky Miller

Becky joined us in 2005 having worked with John Jenkins and Nick Littmoden. She rode United in all her work and has a particular affinity with fillies.

Meghan Lawler

Meghan joined us in 2010 after three and a half years with Jeff Pearce, where she worked her way up to doing much of the travelling and head girl duties.

Lydia Tasker

Lydia joined us straight from the Racing School in 2010. She was brought up in France and has ridden all her life and was a member of the French Pony Club.

Charlotte O’Brien

Charlotte joined us in 2009 having been head girl with George Margarson. Her father was a jump jockey and she herself has ridden successfully in the eventing field.

Michael Keady

Michael joined us on 2010, having done a season with Donald McCain and then with Neil King. He looked after Peddlers Cross while with the McCains! He is hoping to take out his Amateur Licence this season.

Rosie McKee

Rosie joined us in 2009 and had previously been with John Dunlop. She passed out top of her intake from the British Racing School and is working towards her first ride in public.

George Radon

George is from the Czech Republic and joined us in 2007. Although he is the only member of staff who does not ride, he has a great affinity with the horses and all the ones he does seem to win!

Emma Winward

Emma, who is 15 and still at school, is a  great enthusiast and helps us out when free time allows.  She is  hoping to progress shortly from riding hacks to riding some of the racehorses.

Leighton Aspell – Jockey

Leighton is a superb horseman and he has been a key player in making, schooling and preparing our horses. He has been our jockey from day one and there is nobody riding with more commitment and intelligence.

Dominic Elsworth – Jockey

Dominic has made a remarkable comeback from a serious head injury in 2009, that kept him out of the saddle for over a year. Like Leighton, he is a superb horseman and has played a key role in schooling our horses. On the track, he can show flashes of brilliance and the ride he gave Alarazi to win the Imperial Cup was such a moment.

Matt Crawley – Conditional Jockey

Matt joined us in 2007 as our Conditional jockey. He is excellent value for his 7lb claim and has ridden 14 winners. He also recently won a “Lester” for Ride of the Year, in which he managed to defy gravity with a slipping saddle for much of the race and still win!

Ray McGinn – Work Rider

Ray is a former professional jockey on the flat and is a great asset riding work, particularly with the flat horses.  There are few people in racing with greater experience and knowledge.

Lynn McGinn

Lynn, Ray’s wife, keeps the books and deals with the general office administration.  She has been racing secretary to, amongst others, William Huntingdon, Neil Graham and Mark Tompkins.

Huw Neal - Vet

Huw has been our vet since we started our point-to-point yard in Chevington in the mid 1980s.  He is a partner in NEH and a crucial member of our team.

Will O’Shaughnessy – Farrier

Will is one of the busiest farriers in Newmarket working for many of the top yards.  He and his team are vital to the yard and he has won numerous farriery awards both nationally and internationally.

Paddy the terrier

The most important member of the team – at least he likes to think so!
